Our club
The Club du Patinage Artistique de Chamonix (CPAC) is Chamonix valley’s official figure skating club. Our classes are open to boys and girls from ages 4 to 18 and we also offer adult lessons for both beginners and experienced skaters.
Founded in 1967 our club has a skating heritage dating back to the birth of the Winter Olympics in Chamonix in 1924. We have about 100 members and a coaching team comprised of two nationally qualified skating coaches (DEJEPS) as well as qualified skaters, physical trainers and a mental preparation coach.
Our aim is to inspire as many people as possible to embrace the joy of figure skating and to nurture and develop the best possible performance for each individual skater.
Skaters can join the club from age four and can skate recreationally or at competition level.

Figure skating is both a sport that combines technique and artistry. It combines technical precision with grace, musicality and physical strength. Figure skating differs from other forms of skating such as ice dancing and synchronised skating in that it concentrates on jumps, spins, steps and transition movements and dance.
Learning to figure skate has many benefits for both children and adults. Physically the sport helps to develop excellent balance, good reflexes and coordination, as well as helping with postural control.
Skating requires concentration and self discipline - skills that very important in our sport. Learning to follow instructions so they can skate safely, taking responsibility for themselves and learning to be part of a team are all part of the learning experience for our skaters. In addition your child will get to experience the pleasure of skating in front of an audience and the fun of being with their friends.
It is a demanding sport, but one that is full of fun and joy - the freedom of gliding across the ice, the pleasure of skating to music and the pride you feel when you perfect a move - these are the things that we hope each of our skaters will experience.
