A pair of figure skates an essential 'tool' for your child and the right skate is essential for your child's progression, comfort and safety.
in order to make skating more affordable Chamonix Figure Skating Club has invested in buying a selection of skates that its members can rent for the season. We offer our skaters the option to rent a pair of skates (subject to availability) for the season at a cost of 70 Euros with a 150 Euro deposit. Rentals are for the length of an entire season and refunds cannot be made should a child decide to stop skating.
Our rentals include :
1 pair of good quality figure skates
1 pair of plastic skate guards
1 pair of cloth skate guards
1 skate maintenance leaflet
We ask our skaters to take good care of their skates for the whole season. A good pair of well maintained skates will help with your child's progression. With this in mind, please take note of the following advice :
Skates need to be properly looked after, cleaned and maintained to remain in good condition.
Skates are not made for getting around outside the ice rink, even with skate guards. They are not shoes!
Once you have put on your skates in the rink, you will need to wear your plastic skate guards to walk around.
To avoid your blades rusting, you should wipe down your blades and plastic guards with a soft dry cloth and then put your skates in your material skate guards before storing them in your bag.
In order to prevent damage caused by the humidity of the ice and sweat, make sure you dry the inside and outside of your skates with a soft cloth or towel every time you use them.
Undo the laces well and pull out the tongue to open the boot completely.
Do not put your skates to dry somewhere hot like a radiator, as it will damage the leather and the internal structure of the skate.
A skate is a piece of sports equipment made from black or white leather. They are often cut by the blades and so a pot of white or black skate 'wax' can be helpful to keep them looking smart.
Plastic skate guards must be worn to walk inside the ice rink.
Material skate guards are for putting your skates in after you have wiped them down following training.
Skate sharpening should only ever be done by a professional, please talk to our trainers if your skates need sharpening.
Our rental skates must never be worn outside the ice rink.
